The Old Mine Science and Art Centre in Wałbrzych is the biggest attraction of post-industrial tourism in Poland, located in the former Julia ("Thorez") Coal Mine. Completed in 2014, the revitalization of the largest mine in Wałbrzych, which had employed several thousand workers at the peak of its operations, made it possible to create a unique facility on the tourist map of Poland. Currently, it covers 4.5 hectares of historic post-industrial buildings, enriched with authentic equipment including a secured machine park made available to visitors. Thanks to the miner-guides working in the Old Mine, who worked at the Julia mine for many years, each visitor can not only see the huge scale of the mine's infrastructure, but can also learn about the specifics of the dangerous and demanding work of a miner.

In 2015, the Old Mine was awarded the prestigious title of "A well-kept monument" by the National Heritage Institute, which additionally emphasized the uniqueness and scale of the revitalization works carried out in the whole complex. The perfectly preserved post-industrial complex contains knowledge about the history and culture of coal mining, as well as about the ceramic industry in Lower Silesia. The structures of the Old Mine include the Museum of Industry and Technology, the Gallery of Contemporary Art, the Centre for Unique Ceramics, guest rooms and a café. There is also a dedicated concert hall on the premises.
