The outstanding fifties building by Paul Baumgarten is a house with great history. The listed building represents the beginning of modernism in post-war Berlin. The house was home to the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Herbert von Karajan in the 1960s.
Today, the concert hall is the lively center of the Faculty of Music at the UdK Berlin. Here, the rehearsals and concerts of the symphony orchestra take place, as well as concert examinations and competitions.
