Saxmania 2020

Concerts from the "Dariusz Zaleśny invites" series have become a permanent feature of Toruń's cultural events. The first part of the concert will traditionally be performed by students of Dariusz Zaleśny. The main idea of these performances is to present broadly understood saxophone music and artistic achievements of young talented saxophonists in front of a wide and demanding audience. You will be able to hear works by such composers as: H. Ackerman, L. Demerseman, H. Eccles, D. Milhaud. Performers will be accompanied on the piano by Margaret Kapica. The second part is a concert of Latin Jazz - From Bossa Nova to Samba, where you can hear, among others, the most famous themes of the Brazilian boss nova artist Antonio Carlos Jobim. There is also Cuban music by Paquito D'Rivera or Tito Puente. There will also be music by Sonny Rollins or Stan Getz and surprising arrangements of Carlos Santana's works.

All compositions will be presented in new arrangements specially prepared for the concert, which will be based on a solid rhythmic section reinforced with percussion instruments typical of Latin music - bongos, conga, timbales, shakers, etc.; on which Tomasz Skrętkowski, a passionate musician of this genre, will play. Dariusz Zaleśny will perform with the Acoustic Quartet composed of: Tomasz Gust - piano, Antek Olszewski - double bass, Mateusz Krawczyk - percussion and guest Tomasz Skrętkowski - percussion instruments.
