Kacper Malisz
Kacper Malisz - violinist, composer. Through family traditions he is deeply attached to traditional music. He started learning to play the violin at the age of 8. Since the age of 13 he has been giving concerts actively and is one of the most recognizable instrumentalists of the Polish folk scene. His music is a kind of attempt to take a modern look at folk music, while preserving its traditional core. It is an example of how ecstatic mazurka themes, trance-like obereks and crazy polkas can be turned into contemporary music in the best sense of the word. Apart from his activity as a leader of his family band, he has worked with such artists and ensembles as Atom String Quartet, Krzesimir Debski, Michał Tokaj, Michał Barański, Krzysztof Ścierański, Jan Smoczyński. Repeatedly awarded by festivals and magazines, such as the New Tradition festival (three times), Songlines magazine (four times). Together with his own trio he has given concerts in Malaysia, Germany, Portugal, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Belgium, Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia. Currently a student of Mateusz Smoczyński's violin class at the Faculty of Jazz and World Music of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
