Jerzy Butryn
Klasická | Jerzy Butryn is a Polish bass, graduate of the Academy of Music in Wrocław in the singing class of Professor Bogdan Makal (diploma with honours), currently a PhD student at the Vocal Department. Winner of first prize in the Franciszka Platówna National Vocal Competition in Wrocław, special prize in the International Vocal Competition in Kaunas and the prize of the Culture Department in the Academic Competition for the Interpretation of Songs of Fryderyk Chopin and Robert Schumann in Wrocław. Participant of the Programme for the Education of Young Talents – Opera Academy as part of the European Network of Opera Academies in the Grand Theatre in Warsaw.
He has performed in the halls of the Warsaw, Wrocław, Łódź and Kraków Philharmonic, as well as in Kieler Schloss, the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Ohrid Summer Festival, the International Wratislavia Cantans Festival, the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw, the Leo Festival in Wrocław and the Moniuszko Festival in Kudowa-Zdrój. He has collaborated with Paul McCreesh, Giancarl Guerrero, Rubén Silva, Stanisław Gałoński, Łukasz Borowicz and Ernst Kovacic. Co-founder of Collegium Zieleński, with which he recorded Offertoria and Communiones by Mikołaj Zieleński (Opera Omnia series, awarded with the Golden Orpheus Académie du disque lyrique in France and Fryderyk in the category of early music).
He also collaborates with the Capella Cracoviensis, Capella Viridimontana, Collegio di Musica Sacra, Wrocław Puppet Theatre and the Choir of the National Forum of Music. He has taken part in recordings of Grande Messe des Morts by Hector Berlioz, Eliasz by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (Diapason d'Or Award), War Requiem by Benjamin Britten (BBC Music Magazine Award in the choral music of the year category and Fryderyk Award in the classical music category for his CD with a cappella programme). Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Mayor of Wrocław.
