Art Institute - Theater Institute is a state-funded organization established by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. It was founded in 1959 under the title Theater Institute, and since the mid-70s of the 20th century is set in a baroque palace Manhartském in Celetná street in Prague 1. In 2007 the name was changed to the Art Institute - Theater Institute (ATI).
The main mission of the Art Institute - Theater Institute is to provide the Czech and foreign public with comprehensive services in the field of theater and partial services from other areas of the arts (music, literature, dance and visual arts). IDU collects, processes and makes available a collection character objects related to theater, dedicated to scientific research, initiates and participates in international projects and publishes professional literature.
