Her is a French soul-pop band from Rennes. Formed in 2015, it is composed of Simon Carpentier and Victor Solf. The name of the group was chosen by the two members to represent the cause of women and feminism.
After spending one year in the United States, Simon Carpentier met Victor Solf, who had returned from Germany, to the Émile-Zola high school in Rennes, where they created their first songs, when they were sixteen years old. They later enter the conservatory to learn classical music, which will help them in the composition and harmonies of their tracks. For six years, they are members of the Rennes-based electro-pop band The Popopopops, founded in 2007.
Her was founded in April 2015, their first EP Her Tape # 1 was released in 2016. Their first singles are Quite Like and Five Minutes. The video clip of the song Quite Like is directed by Raphaël Frydman and produced by Partizan. It portrays feminine beauty and softness of a young woman - the Finnish model Anna Nevala - miming every word whispered by the duo. Simon Carpentier died on August 13, 2017 from cancer. He was 27 years old. The group’s first album is released on March 30, 2018.
