Henryk Miśkiewicz

An eminent musician, improviser, composer and arranger; he plays the alto, soprano, and sopranino saxophones. Many-time winner of the Fryderyk Award. He made his debut at the Jazz on the Odra Festival in 1967 with Young Jazz Band. Highly regarded in the music world for his technique and original sound, Miśkiewicz has collaborated with such leading Polish jazzmen as Jarosław Śmietana, Henryk Majewski, Jan ‘Ptaszyn’ Wróblewski, Andrzej Jagodziński, as well as foreign artists: Jole Lovano, Mino Cinelu, Pat Metheny, Paul Kuhn, David Murrey, and Michael ‘Patches’ Stewart. He has played in Big Band ‘Stodoła’, Swing Session, Jazz Carries, and Sun Ship, and is the bandleader of Full Drive. Jan ‘Ptaszyn’ Wróblewski composed specially for him his Altissimonica – concerto for improvising saxophone and symphony orchestra. Miśkiewicz is much sought-after not only in jazz, but also as a performer of film and popular music. He has played with, among others, Michał Lorenc and Raz Dwa Trzy group.
