Galerie Max Hetzler

The Galerie Max Hetzler, an international art gallery, was founded in 1974 in Stuttgart, Germany. It is being managed by Max Hetzler and his French wife Samia Saouma.

In the 1970s the gallery was located in Stuttgart. After being situated in Cologne for a while, it finally moved to Berlin in the 1990s. After having moved a couple of times within Berlin, the gallery finally established itself in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Already in 1981, the Galerie Max Hetzler exhibited works by artists like Martin Kippenberger, Günther Jörg, as well as Albert Kehlen and Alfons Mucha. In comparison to most of Berlin’s galleries, Hetzler presents top-class, museum-suited contemporary art. Its range reaches from Jeff Koons to Gerhard Merz. In May 2014, Hetzler opened another branch of his gallery in Paris.
