Funkmaster Ozone

Funkmaster Ozone alias Johann Wagner was born in 1974 in Augsburg. He grew up near Cologne in West Germany.

As an 80s child he started with Breakdance and Electric Boogie in 1983. Back then he fell in love with Oldschool Funk, Rap and Electro and started building up his huge record collection. It was just a matter of time until he started mixing and scratching in 1988 and soon he became very successful at big events like the DMC and the German Stanton Championship.

Influenced by the early West Coast Electro Scene and artists like Egyptian Lover, Paul Hartcastle, The Glove, P-Funk Allstars, Dave Storrs, Bar Keys, Midnight Star, One Way, John Davis, Supermax and especially Roger Troutman and Zapp he wanted to create his own sounds, bought a Talkbox and a Moog Rogue and started producing music.

Nowadays he`s well known as a gear nerd, for his freaky live performances and his big passion for his trademark sounds from the Talkbox and his other baby, the Roland Vocoder SVC350.

He was also in collaboration with other artists like Ronnie Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Too Short, E-40 (West Coast Poplock 2020), Mic Murphy (The System) and Mele Mel (Furious 5), Egyptian Lover, Enois Scroggins, Zapp, Bootsy Collins, Kid Sister, Boyz II Men and many more.

He is best known for his classic songs like Talkbox Fever, Boogaloo Anthem,R.I.C.H C.A.S.O.N or his remixes for Electro Avenue Records from Electro Soul Satisfaction or Boogie Down Bronx.
