Born in Calgary, Foonyap is a classically trained violinist whose playing is characterized by unique sound. She collaborated with such projects or musicians as Woodpigeon or Art Bergmann. Her latest solo publication, Palimpsest, is a therapeutic reconciliation with its Sino-Catholic heritage and intense musical education from her childhood. The memorable, ambitious album with experimental folk has “a characteristic sound that oscillates between the vibrating lullabies and the original gusts of the heart”, bringing associations with the works of Björk, Braids, Lhasa and Kate Bush.
