Flavia Coelho
Born in 1980, Flavia grew up in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. In this difficult world she was accompanied by a variety of music: from samba, pagoda and bossa nova to reggae, soul and funk. Perhaps that's why diversity and mixing of genres are its hallmarks to this day. As a teenager, she sang in Copacabana bars, then tried her luck in Europe and settled in Paris in 2006. Her music has the vitality of samba, the joy of forró, the positive vibration of reggae and lyrical echoes of bossa nova. Flavia's highly acclaimed albums: debutante Bossa Muffin and subsequent Mundo Meu, Sonho real ensured her recognition among Guardian reviewers, but also in her homeland - Gilberto Gil invited her to a joint performance.
