Ewald Danel

Ewald Danel is a Slovak violinist and conductor. After graduation, he was a concertmaster of the Slovak Radio Orchestra and the Slovak National Opera for two years. In 1985-2000 he was the concertmaster of the Slovak National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava and in 2005 he started to work with it again as a soloist and conductor. From 1992 to 1996 he was Artistic Director of Capella Istropolitana, from 1997 to 1998 he was guest concertmaster in Sao Paulo. As conductor and soloist he has worked for many years with Japanese orchestras including the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Harmonia Chamber Orchestra and the Akita Chamber Orchestra. He has also cooperated with Klang Verwaltung München, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra Filarmonica de Malaga, Prague Chamber Philharmonic. In May 2008 he became Principal Guest Conductor of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra. He has performed on the stages of many countries in Europe and Asia as well as in Egypt, Panama, Brazil and the USA. During solo recitals and concerts with the orchestra, he performs works by Vivaldi, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius, Dvorak, Wieniawski, Suchon, among others. He cooperates with such conductors as: Z.Košler, A.Ceccato, F.Luisi, F.Haider, Y.Toyama, A.Witt, A.Rahbari, E. zu Guttenberg, I.Karabtchevsky, V.Schmidt-Gertenbach, B.Rezucha, O.Lenárd and L.Svarovsky. Ewald Danel is an experienced chamber musician. He was a primer of the Slovak Quartet and co-founded the Slovak Piano Trio. An important part of his artistic activity is cooperation with many church choirs. As a teacher Ewald Danel lectured at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Bratislava. Between 1999-2003 and 2007-2009 he was a guest professor at the University of Fine Arts and Music in Nagoya.
