Dirk Serries is the curator of the label A New Wave Of Jazz, as well as an acclaimed sound artist. This Belgian artist has been experimenting with music from the borderline of avant-garde, industrial, experimental and ambient for over 30 years. He published his works - between 1984 and 2007 - under the pseudonym Vidna Obmana. Later projects, such as Fear Falls Burning and his Microphonics series, saw him collaborate with scene figures such as Steven Wilson, Justin K. Broadrick, Cult Of Luna or Steve Roach. In October 2013, Dirk Serries rebooted his classic ambient Vidna Obman sound from the mid-eighties and early nineties. In contrast to his original music based mainly on synthesizers, this ambient music is built from electric guitar sounds. The music created by Dirk exudes sonic purity, blurred harmonies and organic textures that slow down time to a phase of transcendence.
