An ensemble of three instruments which comprise a piano trio has attracted composers since the time of Joseph Haydn. Pavel Trojan, whose piano trio is considered to be among his best compositions, represents contemporary composers. Rachmaninov’s popularity spans the music world and his trio’s melodiousness and Russian romanticism does not fail in comparison with his concertos. The introverted Brahms felt at home with chamber music. As an interesting side note: Miroslav Petráš is a graduate of the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava where he studied under Dr. Ivana Měrka.
