Birthgiving Toad
Birthgiving Toad is the alias under which Lasse Bækby Buch, a Copenhagen-based composer and multi-instrumentalist, works. He has produced at least half a dozen albums in a style that lies on the outsider fringes of guitar music, drawing on the pop of the 1960s and 1970s and the avant-prog traditions of that period; Birthgiving Toad albums could easily be hidden on a shelf next to the work of Robert Wyatt or Henry Cow. He is currently affiliated with Warsaw-based cooperative Crunchy Human Children Records; his latest album, Inserts Brahm, was released by the label in April 2022.
