Bikini Kill

Bikini Kill is an American female punk band operating in the years 1990-1998. The group reactivated in 2019. The band supports feminist ideas and encourages women to participate in music. The team introduced the name riot grrrl and is considered the precursor of this movement. The band was founded in October 1990, after Kathleen Hanna (vocalist), Tobi Vail (drummer) and Kathi Wilcox (bassist) formed together a feminist zine, also known as Bikini Kill. Zine's advertising slogan, Revolution Girl Style Now, later became the title of the band's first EP. The group began touring in June 1991. During their activity, the band toured the United States several times, and toured Europe, Japan and Australia several times. The debut album Pussy Whipped was released in 1993 and contained the most popular song by Rebel Girl.
