Bartosz Michałowski

Bartosz Michałowski is a Polish conductor and choirmaster. Since January 2017 he has been the Director of the Choir of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. He graduated with honours from the Faculty of Choir Conducting of the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. In the years 1998-2005 he was assistant professor of Stefan Stuligrosz and conductor of the Poznań Philharmonic Choir. He gave concerts with the Poznańskie Słowiki (Poznań Nightingales) in Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Russia and Japan. He is a laureate of the L'Orphée d'Or 2015 award, granted by the Académie du Disque Lyrique in Paris, a Fryderyk 2015 nomination for a double disc album with Pasquale Anfossi's music, the winner of Złota Płyta, as well as the winner of the 9th National Choral Conductors' Competition, in which he was also awarded a special prize for his awareness of work on voice emission in a choral ensemble.

Bartosz Michałowski is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the Poznań Chamber Choir, one of the most prominent Polish ensembles of this type. He is also the originator and director of the National Composers' Competition Opus 966. The artist is the creator of the composition workshops for children and young people "Write music - it's simple!", as well as co-author of the project "Picture Gathering", carried out with the National Museum as part of the Biennale of Art for Children in Poznań.

The artist has so far prepared and presented several hundred a cappella works of all epochs, and regularly cooperates with renowned institutions and orchestras in performing vocal-instrumental works. He has made numerous world premieres and has taken part in the recording of over 20 records. In addition to his extensive experience as a conductor, Bartosz Michałowski has also been improving his skills and knowledge of voice emission for many years – he completed master classes with Poppa Holden (Great Britain), Christian Elssner (Germany) and Józef Frakstein (Poland).
