Arche & Tiere

The children's world ANOHA in the Jewish Museum hosts the exhibition Ark & Animals.

In the story of the Flood, the Ark is a huge ship with several floors. The ark in ANOHA is built of wood and round, it reminds of a UFO or a bagel. On the ark live many animals, big and small, animals that you have never seen before or that you might rather not like to meet. All animals are allowed to come to the ark, even those that are not favorites, because they are all respected. On the ark you can get to know each other, but if you want you can also look at the animals from a distance. Or you can touch them, accompany them, greet them, take care of them, feed them, so that they are well on the Ark.

In the ANOHA Ark there are also animals that are already extinct. And some of the animals may soon become extinct. Why do animal species become extinct? What does this have to do with humans? And what can be done to preserve many species?

Fifteen artists worked for two years on 150 animal sculptures. They built the animals from recycled materials and everyday objects. The animal sculptures can be used in different ways: they can be used as climbing frames, loungers or instruments. Some animals can be carried around, some make sounds, others are a marble run.
