Info o umelcovi Andreas Sebastian Weiser

Andreas Sebastian Weiser, a graduate of the University of the Arts in Berlin, became a finalist in the first year of the International Conductors' Contest of Arturo Toscanini in Italy in 1985. Thanks to a scholarship provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) he also studied under the lead of Václav Neumann in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra (1987/88). One year later he became a second conductor of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. The Jena Philharmonic Orchestra chose him as their Principal Conductor in 1990. He thus became the youngest musical director in Germany. He debuted at the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1993, when he quickly substituted for Semyon Bychkov and took over conducting Mahler’s 9th Symphony. He then received invitations to perform at the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Bach Collegium Munich. From their first concert together in Ravenna in 1995 he regularly performed with the violoncellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich (including a rendition of Britten’s War Requiem with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra in Turin, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the NDR Symphony Orchestra). Weiser cooperated on a regular basis with the legendary conductor Lorin Maazel as his assistant and with Zubin Mehta at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia opera house opening ceremony in Valencia. Andreas Sebastian Weiser has conducted, among others, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Bern Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra – Bavarian State Philharmonic, the MDR Symphony Orchestra in Leipzig, and the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. He has given guest performances at the Lille Opera, the Opéra de Nice, the State Theatre in Kassel, the State Opera in Prague, the Teatro di San Carlo opera house in Naples, in Rome, Palermo, Barcelona and Madrid (The RTVE Symphony Orchestra). He rehearsed Britten’s opera The Rape of Lucretia as part of Lorin Maazel’s music festival in Castleton, USA. He has cooperated with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and Virtuosi di Praga. Weiser originally held the position of Conductor (from 2006) and Chief Conductor (from 2009) of the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been the Principal Conductor of this body since the 2012/2013 season. He has also been the Musical Director of the State Opera in Prague since September 2016.
