Aldona Bartnik
Aldona Bartnik graduated from the Early Music Department of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where she honed her artistic craft under the direction of Rita Dams, Peter Kooij Michael Chance, Jill Feldman and Pascal Bertin. In addition to her early music repertoire, she often reaches for classical and early Romantic compositions accompanied by the pianoforte or other period instruments. She also pays attention to the works of contemporary composers, whom she appreciates for their ingenuity in using the timbral possibilities of the voice.
She regularly performs with Collegium Vocale Gent, De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Netherlands Radio Choir, Vox Luminis and Capella Cracoviensis. She has performed with conductors such as Giovanni Antonini, Konrad Junghänel, Philippe Herreweghe, Andrew Parrott, Fabio Bonizzoni, Jos van Veldhoven, Benjamin Bayle, Paul McCreesh, Jan Tomasz Adamus, among others. In 2015, she began collaborating with the Hague-based Musica Antica da Camera Foundation, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in The Hague, which, with the support of the National Forum of Music, enables her to organise concerts in the Netherlands promoting the works of Polish composers of the Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic and Neo-Romantic eras.
Aldona Bartnik's artistic output includes four solo albums devoted to early music. Two albums with works by Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki, recorded with the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble under the direction of Andrzej Kosendiak, received Fryderyk Award nominations in 2013 and 2015. The 2013 recording received the Music Award of the City of Wrocław. Another two-disc album with works by Marcin Mielczewski will be released in 2016. With the Wrocław early music ensemble Ars Cantus, she has recorded works by Lower Silesian Renaissance composers. In 2016, this recording was nominated for a Fryderyk Award.
