Zernell Gillie's style is settled somewhere between the heart of disco and the soul of Chicago house music with a grimy twist. By stripping down rare disco classics and rebuilding them to ne tracks he has made his Grimy imprint known worldwide.
Zernell was born in Chicago and started DJing as a teenager. During the early years of house music he was inspired by Hot Mix 5 on WBMX like many Chicago kids. He grew up with the Music Box and other Chicago clubs, listening to the sounds of Ron Hardy and other early house pioneers. Zernell's music style features hot and rare disco and house tracks and re-edits to keep the dance floor moving and has been acclaimed by the underground scene until today.
He has organized various parties in different cities and has toured parties in various European countries. His passion for house and disco music has stayed as strong as it was in the 80s and reflects in his extensive record collection.
