Yvona Škvárová

Yvonna Škvárová is a Czech mezzo-soprano, soloist of the National Theatre.

Yvona Škvárová accepted her first engagement at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen. She appeared at the National Theatre in 1987 and the following year she was engaged there. After the division of the Prague opera houses, she became a member of the Prague State Opera, where she was one of the leading soloists of the company. Since 1999 she has been a member of the National Theatre again. She has made guest appearances in Dublin and Nancy, and her art has been appreciated by audiences in Taiwan and Japan. Since 1999 she has been a member of the National Theatre again. For the role of Marylin Klinghoffer in John Adams’ opera The Death of Klinghoffer she won the Thalia Award 2003. She is also a sought-after interpreter of oratorio and cantata works.
