Vil
The story of Vil begins in a charmingly run-down Reykjavík backyard in October 2015. After ten days of musical experiments, this is the place where Maria Bay Bechmann and Julius Rothlaender hold an intimate headphone concert to present their first songs: four crackling pieces, mellow and moony. Soon there is the shy decision to start a band, and new songs just keep on coming, seeming to write themselves during encounters in Marias home in Denmark, Julius’ little studio in Iceland, or during a visit in Berlin. Many miles and concerts follow, in Copenhagen, Berlin and Reykjavík; there are support tours for Einar Stray Orchestra and Hannah Epperson, as well as appearances at Fusion Festival, Iceland Airwaves and Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. After all that Vil released their first album Mens vi falder stille in March 2017.
Since then Vil concentrate on creating new tracks in the danish solitude and play some handpicked shows per year. The new EP Hvis det du (ikke) siger aldrig bliver sagt igen was written in late summer 2017 and since finishing it, Vil are working on collaborations with different artists to release every song of the EP in its own style.
Adriana Berroterán made a stunning video fort he first single Uden – beautiful pictures which melt perfectly with the music. Collaborations with Klāvs Liepiņš (Dance / Video) and Shuyi Yi (Video) for the two other songs will follow.
