Hibaj
Hibaj is originally a folk-rock band, founded in 1984. The name is derived from the first letters of the first names of the founders, Honza Lejčko, Ivan Novák, Bořek Mejchar and Jiří Tesař. This founding foursome was soon joined by Miloš Suchý as sound engineer and key organizational phenomenon, Pavel Strejc as singer and frontman. Over the years, the band was replaced by a number of musicians (Zdeněk Anděl, Jiří Koutný, Bohouš Josef, Václav Mazín, Petr Holík and others).
In 2001 Pavel Strejc tragically died and Jan Holík (son of former band member Petr Holík) took his place. In the 1980s Hibaj had almost completely its own repertoire. Nowadays it is a revival band, playing the music of its favourite bands and musicians (Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, Sting, Santana, Muddy Watters, Chris Rea, Robben Ford, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, Jonny Lang, Robben Ford, etc.).
In spring 2011, singer Honza Holík and keyboardist Stepan Elias left the band due to heavy workload. They were replaced by Marek Hupac as frontman and Jan Sedlacek as keyboard player. Percussionist Pavel Plánka also joins the band. With the arrival of Marek Hupac, the band's own repertoire is being revived. Originally folk-rock songs are given more modern arrangements, based on the sound Hibaj presents at its concerts.
