Furia

Since its formation in 2003, Silesian quartet Furia has become one of the main export products of Polish black metal, over the years consistently crossing genre boundaries and turning towards the avant-garde. Led by vocalist and guitarist Michał "Nihil" Kuźniak, the group creates music with a singular atmosphere, drawing from the post-industrial landscape of Upper Silesia, primordial fear and modernist surrealism. Furia debuted in 2007 with the melodic, raw and bleak to the point of gloom album Martwa polska jesień, a style they continued on their next three albums. A turning point in their career was 2016's Księżyc milczy luty, which saw Furia's vision crystallize with the inclusion of nocturnal, hypnotic post-rock passages and experimental production.. Following its release, the band became widely recognised outside the metal bubble, leading, among other things, to a collaboration with theatre director Jan Klata on a staging of The Wedding by Wyspianski, which formed the basis for the group's latest work so far, the conceptual, radio drama-like W Śnialni (2021).
