Lego de l’égo

Lego de l’égo is a shorter work in which Ladji continues in close cooperation with a musician. He searches for the inner harmony between the pursuit of the perfection of the construction of his own being and the real self-destructive mechanism controlled by his own ego. Perhaps we all build our own castles in the sky, but our dreams do not always come true. Sometimes, only a broken construction set will remain. At other times, we overcome our own self…

Màa Labyrinthe

Burkina Faso is a poor, arid, but proud West African nation, which preserves its authenticity. Its name can be translated as “the land of honest people.” It organized the triennial Pan-African Dance Festival, which turned heads with this iconic duet between a talented Burkinabe and a French musical experimenter. Their perfect interplay and the surprising involvement of the musician show how tradition and the present can come together. Ladji is not afraid to enter his labyrinth, where on the path to finding his own identity he encounters disillusionment and important moments of reflection, obstacles and resistance which she has the strength to overcome.

Like most hip-hop artists, Ladji Kone started out on the streets as a break-dancer testing the limits of his body, before gaining admission to the EDIT school. He also studied at the École des Sables as well as outside of Africa, in France and Germany. He founded his company CieLK to create art across disciplines without preconceptions, and since 2009 he promotes art as a means of social integration under the heading Collective JUMP (Jeunesse Unie pour un Mouvement Positif). Erwann Bouvier is originally from France, but has been living in Burkina Faso since 2007. Besides playing on the balafon, guitar and mandolin, he devises his own sound experiments with various objects, and also developed an instrument called the “mandjelin”, which combines the traditional African Djoni n’goni and the French mandolin.
