Peter Vrábel

Peter Vrabel is a Slovak conductor who lives and works in the Czech Republic. He launched his concert career early, as a student he collaborated with numerous symphony and chamber orchestras as well as with Kühn´s Children Choir. In 1995 he founded Berg Orchestra that has become thanks to him a respected performer of contemporary and twentieth-century music. Being still its chief-conductor and artistic director, his artistic leadership is vital for the orchestra. He is enthusiastic and original promoter of new music and actively collaborates with the very best Czech composers, creating opportunities for the younger generation of composers and performers through various projects. His activities are diversified – despite his concentration on new music, he programs also older works and thus occupies himself with period interpretation. He created many recordings for the Czech Radio and proved his versatility with jazz and film music. He is guest conductor in the National Theater in Prague (Goldilocks). He is Gideon Klein Prize holder. In 2010, BERG Orchestra and its artistic director Peter Vrábel were commended for artistic excellence and the promotion of Czech music by the Czech section of the International Music Council of UNESCO.
