Peter Sonn

Born and grown up in Salzburg and educated at the university Mozarteum, Peter Sonn had his breakthrough at the Salzburg Festival when he was still studying. The Austrian tenor is on his way to the first class of singers of the opera world and sings on the stages of the big opera house of the world: He performs in main roles of his style at the Teatro alla Scala, the State Opera Unter den Linden Berlin, the Semperoper Dresden and the Salzburg Festival.

As a lyrical tenor, he began his career with the typical Mozart roles Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and Tamino (Die Zauberflöte). Among his roles are all roles of the lyrical subject, such as Henry Morosus (Die schweigsame Frau), David (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Vladimir Igorjevitsch (Fürst Igor), Italienischer Sänger (Der Rosenkavalier) und Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore). Recently, Sonn also grows into the romantic subject with Don Jose (Carmen), Max (Freischütz), Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) or Mahler's Lied von der Erde.

Er collaborates with famous conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Muti, Christian Thielemann, Zubin Metha, Daniele Gatti, Franz Welser-Möst, Marc Albrecht, Cornelius Meister, Daniel Harding, Marek Janowski, Philippe Jordan, Ulf Schirmer and Peter Schneider on a regular base.
