Nollendorfplatz

The Nollendorfplatz is located in the north of Berlin-Schöneberg in the district Tempelhof-Schöneberg and is an important traffic junction of the capital with an extensive street crossing. The square was laid out in 1880 according to the ideas of Peter Josef Lenné. During World War II, Nollendorfplatz suffered severe damage during Allied air raids. The destroyed buildings were then replaced with new ones. The square itself was developed for traffic after 1971, so that a fast connection between the districts of Kreuzberg and Charlottenburg was made possible. Today, the square consists mainly of the subway building, two wide streets on both sides of the elevated train tracks, and an extensive intersection area. A parking lot was created on a remaining area
