Nike Markelius
Nike Markelius is a Swedish musician, composer, singer and songwriter. She started her music career in 1978 with the band Usch, where she performed for 16 years as a drummer, singer and songwriter acted. Together with Kajsa Grytt she played in the band Tant Strul and took over the drums as well. In 1987, after the separation of Tant Strul, she founded the duo Nike Gurra the band Ebba Grön and their own record label Diva Records. In 2012, the Nike Markelius Band formed the Nike & Röda Orkestern, which released its debut album in the same year. Since 2014 she has taken over the drums in the band Juka Soma & the Future of Chemistry, which released their first self titeled record in 2018.
Meanwhile, she is not only dedicated to music, but is also active as a writer, chronicler and author. Among other things, she published her own biography Trumslag (Modernista Verlag) in 2016 and has been writing regularly since 2015 as a columnist in the new social magazine Syre.
