Martin Gerke
Martin Gerke was born in Hildesheim and received his first vocal training there at the boys' choir Hildesheim. He then studied with Prof. Thomas Quasthoff at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Opera engagements have taken him to numerous houses, including the Berlin State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Hebbel am Ufer Berlin, de Singel Antwerp, the Theater for Lower Saxony Hildesheim, the Volksbühne Berlin, the Theater Chur and festivals (including Ruhrtriennale, Holland Festival, International Summer Festival Kampnagel Hamburg, Rotterdam Operadagens, International Opera Festival Miskolc Hungary). His repertoire includes roles such as Don Giovanni, Papageno (The Magic Flute), Pappacoda (One Night in Venice), Escamillo (Carmen). In recent years he devoted himself increasingly to New Music and worked together with composers Lucia Ronchetti, Samir Odeh Tamimi, Gordon Kampe and Genoël of Lilienstern.
