Jochen Arbeit

Jochen Arbeit moved to Berlin in 1980 and was part of the art and music movement Geniale Dilettanten, which had its roots in Punk Rock and Dadaism. In 1983, Arbeit became an influential member of the band Die Haut, with whom he toured Europe and overseas. Later, in 1997, he was a member of the avant-garde noise band Einstürzende Neubauten, whose members he met in the early 80s and supported on all subsequent albums and tours. Other projects include the Berlin country band The Jever Mountain Boys, the soul band Martin Dean and the band of the artist Martin Eder, Richard Ruin et les Demoniaques. Since 2006, Arbeit works together with dancer and performance artist Vania Rovisco on the project Stupid Green. He also created the music for Abraham Hurtado's dance I was there. In 2009, Arbeit composed a sound installation for an exhibition of Martin Eder's artworks in Dresden, working with Stupid Green on a performance for the 90th Bauhaus anniversary at Theaterhaus Jena, and presenting and composing the music for Abraham Hurtado's performance installation Die Körper ohne Uns in Murcia, Spain. and Mexico City. In 2011, Arbeit founded the band AUTOMAT with Zeitblom and Achim Färber and together they recorded various radio plays and also played live in Germany.
