Patrick K. Kroupa is an entrepreneur, writer, hacker, and activist. During the 1980s he was a member of the Legion of Doom, one of the most influential hacking groups in the history of technology. Having grown bored of accessing systems that didn't belong to him, in 1991 he co-founded MindVox, the first Internet Service Provider in New York, the third in the United States, and one of the first 500 dot coms ever registered. Patrick was a high-functioning heroin addict for his entire early adult life. His relationship with heroin began at age 14 and continued until his 30th year. Kroupa and his work have been featured in over 100 books, films, television reports, and a wide spectrum of periodicals including Wired, Forbes, the New Yorker, Time, Rolling Stone, NY Magazine, Esquire, Radar, Details, and MAPS (the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies). Patrick is co-founder of the MindVox Corporation, a member of Cult of the Dead Cow, and a consultant for Clear Sky Recovery.
