Iggy Azalea is an Australian rapper and songwriter. Shortly before her sixteenth birthday, Azalea dropped out of high school and moved to the United States, telling her parents she was only going on vacation there. After she arrived in Miami, she told her parents that she would stay in the United States from now on. Her stage name is the name of her former dog Iggy and Azalea Street, where she grew up.
Her career started when she moved to Los Angeles and uploaded videos on a YouTube channel. Her first Mixtape Ignorant Art was released in 2011 and includes a guest post by YG. She received media attention for the first time through the song Pu$$y. After several single releases, her second mixtape, TrapGold, was released in 2012, and in the same year the artist appeared in front of 80,000 spectators in Las Vegas with Steve Aoki and received the title of Most Promising Newcomer of the Year of a US rap magazine.
In 2013, she signed with Mercury Records, joined Rita Ora in the opening act, and released her single Work, which became the lead single of her debut album The New Classic. This is followed by the collaboration with Beyoncé, Robin Thicke, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson and Britney Spears live on stage and in the studio. In 2014 she released her second studio album Reclassified on EMI Records, Island Records, Universal Music and Def Jam as a reissue of The New Classic. Both songs Kream and Tokyo Snow Trip appeared in 2018 when Iggy Azalea released her EP Survive the Summer.
