Hauen und Stechen

The musical theatre collective Hauen und Stechen was founded by the directors Franziska Kronfoth and Julia Lwowski, who have been working together artistically and strategically since 2012. Kronfoth and Lwowski have studied opera direction at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and their aim is a music theatre which is transboundary and covers various genres.

The close cooperation with the musicians Nedezda Tseluykina, Roman Lemberg and Louis Bona, the actors Gina-Lisa Maiwald and Günter Schanzmann, the video artist Martin Mallon, the production and costume designers Christina Schmitt, Yassu Yabara and Günter Lemke as well as an intense network of opera singers and musicians led to the establishment of an individual, wild, performative and distinctive theatre language.

Often, the collective works in close connection to the location. The aim is to present the distinctiveness of the various locations by means of the setting of the performance as well as to change the location by the stage design.
