Erich Kästner Museum
The Erich Kästner Museum was opened in 2000 to mark Erich Kästner's 101st birthday. It shows the world-famous children's book author, usage poet, journalist and media man as an exemplary author of the 20th century.
The new museum concept offers a maximum of exciting information with consciously low resource consumption, with which visitors of all generations can conquer the complex Kästner world in a playful way. A method of information transfer is offered which is based on self-determined informal discovery. The visitor is encouraged to re-contextualize the museum objects and their own knowledge.
The mobile interactive micromuseum consists of a core that, in addition to multimedia technology, also offers exhibition space for originals and a small library, as well as 13 mobile columns that are equipped with drawers and presentation areas.
In addition to Erich Kästner's primary work, there are newspaper articles, letters, reviews, testimonials, contributions to the discussion, photos, facsimiles and a wide selection of secondary literature among the exhibits. The objects are intended for use by the visitor.
