Divadlo Pôtoň
The Pôtoň Theatre was established in 2000 and is based in the Slovak countryside. The productions are based on field research and framed by an urgent social theme (Terra Granus - repatriate exchanges between Czechoslovakia and Hungary, Psota - poverty in Slovakia, Krajina nepokosených lúk - national identity of Slovaks). The theatre implements educational projects linking art with other disciplines (sociology, ethnography, history). These projects are mainly aimed at educating the audience and developing critical thinking. The cultural centre also hosts workshops for professionals and the general public, as well as creative residencies for Slovak and foreign artists. Since 2015, the theatre has also been running a cinema, whose programme focuses mainly on contemporary European cinema. The Pôtoň Theatre presents more than 150 events in its premises and is visited by approximately 6,000 spectators a year. It has won several awards for artistic activity and informal education.
