Dekoloniale Memory Culture in the City

Dekoloniale Memory Culture in the City is a model project that aims to explore and make visible the past and present of the (anti-)colonial in Berlin, the rest of Germany and in Germany's former colonies with the help of experts and activists worldwide.

The location of the project is nestled between the Berlin districts of Mitte and Kreuzberg, on Wilhelmstraße between the former sites of the Reich Chancellery and the Foreign Office. The project uses Berlin as an example to test how a metropolis, its space, its institutions and its society can be examined for (post-)colonial effects.

Decolonial Memory Culture in the City is a joint project of Berlin Postkolonial e. V., Each One Teach One (EOTO) e. V., Initiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland (ISD-Bund) e. V. and the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin.
