2020 Vision / Jake Polonsky / United Kingdom 2020 – This year revealed many things. I don’t even know where to start.’

Out Of Ordinary / Luca Signoretti, Tobias Buchmann, Alicja Pahl / ŠSwitzerland 020 – The film offers the crossing of a barrier and perspective for the audience, letting them enter behind frames and screens. Fantasies and desires then materialize into a real life journey.

The Bait / Tang Chenglong / China 2020 – Three dancers, one kite, one hook, two cultures in one weird euphemism.

We Are All On The Same Bus / Nuno Serrão / Portugal 2020 – We are all on the same bus, but some of us are more awake than others. If we consider Einstein’s space-time concept, we end up with an object where everything that happened and everything that will happen, is understood inside. Through it, we are driven by a vehicle, let’s call a bus, completely autonomous, that goes in a single direction, to the front, and has a single window, the rear. This vehicle, astronomer Arthur Eddington called The Arrow of Time. This idea, although depressingly deterministic, is difficult to ignore in view of the already proven plasticity of time, even when we consider Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, where the act of observing something, alters its result. A concept that does not invalidate a deterministic Universe, rather, allows the Interpretation of Many Worlds by Hugh Everett, also known as Multiverse.

Downriver / Andrea Boll / Switzerland 2020 – Water – Leonardo da Vinci called it “the blood of the planet”. A group of people emerges from the water. They try to resist the current of the river and the stream of people in the city, but have to surrender to the flow and are washed ashore. On the shore, the stranded seek for hold and refuge. In the course of the film “against or with the flow”, “resistance and devotion” manifest as a primal instinct, as a survival strategy.

Divided We Scroll / Klaas Diersmann / United Kingdom 2019 – TTechnology is rewiring our brains and changing both our physical movements and inner thought processing. Divided We Scroll is an experimental and eerie depiction of our intimate relationships with these technologies, which have become obsessive, compulsive and divisive. Through contemporary dance, we explore the chilling reality of a constantly connected world where data and software is continuing to redefine us within an increasingly complex technological network.

Between Silences / Rich Ferri / USA 2018 – Filmed on location on Cape Cod, between silences is a dance film based on Ali Kenner Brodsky’s solo the most depressing piece… Together with filmmaker Rich Ferri, Kenner Brodsky transforms her live solo into a raw, unfiltered cinematic experience. between silences portrays one woman’s journey through grief. To love. To lose. To grieve. To find a way back.

Sadaf / Anne Jammet / France 2019 – “A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.“ A dancing story about an iranian girl who loves boxing.

Navigation / Marlene Millar / Canada 2020 – Set in the spectacular Burren region of the west coast of Ireland, Navigation explores the current humanitarian crisis of displacement and dislocation that is experienced both individually and collectively. Using the land itself to explore how we navigate through unknown terrain, themes of survival and perseverance, departure and renewal emerge in a nuanced and layered interpretation of the migration experience. The rhythms, movement, vocals and landscape define and embody this exploration, featuring the performances of 10 dancers, singers and a choir of 40 participants

Autonome – Mada Mada / Alexandre Richard / Canada 2020 – Montreal, 1954. An exiled author is thrown into a dance with his inner demons. Shaken by the unwavering tides of his life, a gentle touch comes to mind.

Am I Paris / Redha Medjellekh / France 2018 – A film about acceptance and reflection. This surprising and enchanting video features the French dancer Skorpion in a costume made by the hair expert Charlie Le Mindu. As a “hair creature”, Skorpion roams the streets of Paris while amusing, intriguing and sometimes even scaring passersby. Director, Redha Medjellekh’s aims to highlight the need to accept differences in a cosmopolitan city like the French capital, putting dance at the center of this process as a means of communication. The combination of elements, including Le Mindu’s astounding costume, Medjellekh’s staging, the ensemble of street characters and the intensity of the classical music score by Prokofiev gives the film an intense and poetic power that marks the minds.

Fibonacci / Tomáš Hubáček / Czech Republic 2021 – Environmental dance film, or audiovisual meditation on Fibonacci patterns seen in the landscape, but also in the behavior of the herd, steeped in the structure of film and layers of music. Finally, after successful foreign presentations, the Czech premiere.
