Simple Minds is a Scottish new wave band, who in 1978 founded a drummer Brian McGee, bassist Derek Forbes, Mick MacNeil keyboardist, singer Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill. The original lineup of the group throughout its existence played only Kerr and Burchill. For his career so far released 16 albums, several of their singles were on top of the British and American charts and in 1986 was nominated as the best British band at the Brit Award. About Simple Minds but the world is still interested, not only because of their pop hits, but also because of the reputation that their live concerts.
Simple Minds influenced many musical groups – Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Moby and The Horrors. By sampling is Nicky Minaj, David Guetta, Joey Negro and Freddy Baston. Worked with famous directors and created music for their films – Christian Carion (L’Affaire Farewell), Gregor Jordan (The Informers), Cameron Crowe (Elizabethtown) and of course John Hughes (The Breakfast Club). They stood on the top of the British charts with the album Sparkle In The Rain (1984), Once Upon A Time (1985) and Street Fighting Years, as well as the Ballad Of The Streets EP (both 1989), a concert recording Live In The City Of Light (1987 ) as a compilation Glittering Prize 81/91. In the UK Top Ten returned in 2009 with their new studio album Graffiti Soul.
