Hysni Zela & Albanian Iso Polyphonic Choir

Albanian iso-polyphony still embodies a living tradition of songs, which reflect the history and glory of oppression in the region. In every village in this way for hundreds of years singing at weddings, funerals and in pubs. In recent years, however, maintain its tradition of family communities rather than just professional choirs. I was therefore iso-polyphony in 2005 as a masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO-protected.

Iso (from the Byzantine ison) in the title refers to a specific bordunový accompanying polyphonic singing, a tone of constant height, a kind of hum. It is this monotonous accompaniment, from the Byzantine choral music, and its method underline the melody or protimelodii songs and give them a specific color. Ison has thus singing irreplaceable, because essentially varies the structure of the songs. The college hosted the most respected Albanian singer Hysni (Niko) Zela, a veteran of controlling all the local nuances of iso-polyphony and voice simultaneously explosive Albanian brass band Fanfare Tirana, which perhaps can dance to the dead.
