Eisenpimmel

Eisenpimmel are a satirical punk band from Duisburg, Germany. They were founded in 1994 but present themselves as a band who has been very successful in the 1980s. According to their official biography the band was founded in 1983 with the members Siggi Katlewski (vocals), Bärbel Rotzky (vocals), Wolle Pannek (guitar), Karl Arsch (bass) and Addi Kalupke (drums). They claim that a small number of concerts in the 80s is responsible for their legendary status.

In reality it is a satirical project that has its origins in the year 1994. As the predecessor band Rent A Cow around singer Tom Tonk did not reach commercial success, he founded the band Eisenpimmel. The names of the official members suit to the satirical lyrics as they fulfill the cliché of typical Ruhrpott proles. With this project various 7" singles and sampler contributions were released in the 1990s. Compilations of these songs, a studio album and a "tribute album" of the band to itself followed. In the new millennium the band began touring in the end of 2005. In 2009 the album Füße hoch, Fernsehen an, Arschlecken, a new milestone in the band history, was released.

As Eisenpimmel are a satire on German punk bands, this is also the style of their music, but on a higher stylistic level with more complex song structures, polyphonic vocals and musical quotes. Some songs also satirize other music genres such as schlager or rockabilly. In the lyrics the satirical character is even more significant, besides the typical choice of topics the band often uses grammar mistakes, vocals in dialect, punch lines as well as references to other bands as stylistic devices for the prole cliché.
