Altın Gün
A retro-sound from the 70s of Turkey. In other words: an exciting mix of folk, psychedelic, funk and rock. This is exactly what the brand new formation Altin Gün stands for. Bass player Jasper Verhulst fell in love with the sound of artists like Selda, Barış Manço and Erkin Koray, who, 40 years ago, started to mix traditional music with western rock influences. Verhulst – together with Jacco Gardner and band members Ben Rider (guitar) and Nic Mauskovic (drum), Turkish singers Merve Dasdemir, Erdinc Yildiz Ecevit (vocal, sax, keys) and percussionist Gino Groeneveld (Jungle By Night) – interprets the works of the artists mentioned above, in addition to writing his own fresh, danceable arrangements of Turkish traditionals.
