Żoliborski Dom Kultury – Sokolnicki Fort
Żoliborski Dom Kultury is an institution that is created together with the residents. It is meant to be a place where the residents can feel free, important and fulfilled. The ambition of the creators of the Żoliborz Cultural Centre is for it to be built in symbiosis with the values of the New European Bauhaus, such as sustainability, aesthetics of the surroundings, social inclusion and ecology. Their ambition is that the institution can aspire to be a place where the idea of art, social inclusion, science, technology, care for human well-being and the ecosystem intersect.
Żoliborski Dom Kultury is to become a brand that will create a safe space for dialogue between cultures, disciplines, genders, age groups, for which good neighbourliness, relationships and local identity will be a value. The historical potential of the district will play a special role in the programme of the Żoliborz Cultural Centre. Activities and projects that make use of local identity will serve to foster neighbourly relations and build an aware local community proud of its place of residence. A special place in the programme paths will be given to the ideological and social legacy of the Warsaw Housing Cooperative, as a study of the neighbourhood's cultural urban strategy, the value of good neighbourliness and an optimistic vision of social construction and co-creation of local identity.
