Krzysztof Jasiński has decided to slightly refresh the dusty school reading of Aleksander Fredro’s The Revenge. In his production, the comedy about our vices and weaknesses sparkles with unpretentious humour and establishes a great rapport with the young audience, which reacts to the classic Fredro-phrase with surprising liveliness. However, the main strength of this production are the actors. They create a gallery of expressive characters who, although hidden under stylish costumes, very much resemble our contemporaries. For there is an eternal Polish-Polish war, an ongoing dispute over the proverbial land. Krzysztof Jasiński’s production of Zemsta (The Revenge) is a dynamic performance which has been attracting crowds of younger and younger theatregoers to Teatr Stu for the past few years. Juicy phrases, many of which have permanently entered colloquial Polish language, gain here anew a unique comedic vigour and power of impact.
