Zdeněk Klauda

Zdeněk Klauda has composed music, played the piano and the flute since his childhood. After graduating from the Jan Neruda Music School in Prague, where under the tutelage of Miroslav Kubička he received systematic compositional training, he focused on conducting, which he studied with Hynek Farkač. In 2005 he completed his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts and since then has been permanently engaged at the National Theatre in Prague. His compositions have been primarily published by the USA’s Alliance Publications, Inc. In 2008 he was invited to participate in the staging of Dvořák’s Rusalka within the Salzburger Festspiele. Subsequently, he has regularly worked for prestigious opera houses in Europe, including the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Wiener Staatsoper and the Opéra national de Paris. In 2012 he co-prepared the music for the production of Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen for the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, for which he also worked on Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in the next season. That year, Zdeněk Klauda received third prize at the conducting competition in Constanta, Romania. He has worked as an assistant to Franz Welser-Möst, Kirill Petrenko, Vladimir Jurowski, Tomáš Netopil and other renowned conductors.
