Zbigniew Chojnacki
An accordionist associated with the Warsaw improvised music scene who has worked with giants of jazz and new music such as Joëlle Léandre, Mats Gustafsson and Colin Stetson. He draws inspiration from elements most often not directly related to music: as he says himself, an old washing machine, a blade of grass, the whirr of an engine or even the usual chair in the middle of the stage can be inspiring. In his solo concerts he uses the accordion and electronics - at times relaxed, at times in a rush, but always on his way to new melodic combinations. He has played at the A L'Arme Festival in Berlin, the Sharpe Festival in Bratislava, the LEM Festival in Barcelona, the Ring Ring Festival in Belgrade, the WOS Festival in Santiago de Compostela, the Oct Loft Jazz Festival in Shenzhen, the Musikprotokoll Festival in Graz, the Avant Art Festival in Warsaw, Skanu Mezs in Riga or the La Nature Festival in Belgium. Apart from his solo activities, he has also been involved in the Warsaw Improvisers Orchestra, Quartett Non Locality or the Backspace duo, which he co-founded with violinist Łukasz Czekała.
