Yann Tiersen continues to work on the musical monument he sets for his homeland. The composer lives on the island of Ouessant, an idiosyncratic and tartly beautiful rock off the western tip of Brittany. For a long time this point was considered the storm and wave umtoste end of the world. Here, nature and humans meet each other very directly. No wonder that the representative of Minimal Music draws his inspiration here. Similar to his works, life and nature are progressing quite regularly and only slowly changing. Tensions develop in deep silence, but can increase tremendously from time to time.

Already in 2016, on his album Eusa – the Breton name of Ouessant – Tiersen has created an atmospheric musical map of the island, where he incorporated field recordings on location as well as his piano compositions. Over time, the sonic cosmos around the island has continued to grow. Most recently, The Lost Notebook released two more songs and the album Hent (the way) ended the work. Here, from the short interludes of Eusa – the paths between the pieces, which characterize one place, so to speak – a 45-minute walk through a fantastic dream world. Originally, Tiersen had planned to publish these works exclusively as a music book. But the joy he felt in playing the pieces, and above all the resounding success they had in his performances, convinced the Frenchman to release his own recordings of it.

At the same time Yann Tiersen has also worked on material that he has worked out with befriended musicians in an acoustic band version and will soon be released. Thus, the three concerts in March will present both aspects in a retrospective – a solo part on the piano and then in a trio with changing instruments.
