XJazz Festival 2019

The Xjazz Festival is much more than a classical festival. The cross-genre event counteracts the outdated image of the jazz music scene. The line-up combines jazz with new experimental varieties from the genres of electro, funk, soul and hip-hop and thus overcomes stylistic boundaries. The next XJazz festival will take place in spring 2019. Five days with a total of around 70 concerts on ten stages in Berlin-Kreuzberg will be happening. In addition to big names, many newcomers also appear. The artists do not only come from Berlin but come from all over Europe.

Since 2014, the Xjazz Festival takes place annually in spring. Berlin is the meeting place for national and international jazz music. In addition to the Berlin Xjazz now also Xjazz editions in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir take place. Behind the event is the further development of the jazz scene with influences from other genres. The result is musical symbioses of jazz, pop, funk, sound experiments, ambient, hip-hop, oriental harmony, African rhythm, electronics and improvisation. In the foreground stands the openness to different musical and cultural influences. The event stands for an open-hearted Europe. Curiosity and tolerance are combined with jazz. The special feature of the festival is the diversity of cooperation: The Xjazz is known for bringing together different artists and creating new projects.
